Step: 1 Drawing the soil & wooden support
Begin by drawing the soil in which the plant grows. Use overlapping segments of connected “U” shaped lines. Then, draw the upright stake of the trellis, or wooden framework that supports the vine.
Extend a long, curved line up from the dirt, and double it back upon itself to enclose the stake.
Step: 2 Drawing stem of vine
Draw the crossbeam of the trellis. Extend a long, curved line from the stake at a perpendicular angle. Double it back upon itself to enclose the beam.
On the opposite side of the stake, use a short curved line to enclose the end of the beam.
Draw pairs of “S” shaped lines emerging from one side of the beam or stake, crossing it, and disappearing on the opposite side. This outlines the vine.
Step: 3 Drawing branches of vines
Erase the lines of the trellis from within the vine. Then, draw many long, curved lines extending from the vine.
These are the twigs on which the leaves will grow. At the tip of the vine, draw a pair of lines in a “curly Q” or spiral pattern, allowing them to meet at a sharp point.

Draw two curved lines around each twig, one on each side. This encloses the heart-shaped leaves.
